The Fat Friar is the Hufflepuff house ghost.

After he graduated from Hogwarts, he became a man of the cloth. However, he was unable to reconcile his religion with his magical abilities. Ultimately, he was executed as a heretic.

As a ghost, he returned to Hogwarts, becoming the ghost for his former house.
