Kern is one of the immortals in the Council of Immortals who decided to eventually grant the Mantle of Immortality to Santa Claus. In addition, he is the Master Husbandman of the world. As such, the world's agriculture is his domain.

He acts as one of the three chief immortals, alongside Ak and Bo.
