Dame Dingle was an old woman of Noland who, through happenstance, came into possession with a wish-granting cloak. As she did not realize the import of the device, she cut it into pieces and distributed these among her quilting club.

When discovering the true nature of the cloak, however, she gathered up the pieces and reassembled them.
