You will not create more than one account to subvert any intentional limitation put in by the system, nor will you not create multiple accounts to give the impression that you are multiple people on the site, for whatever benefit that may provide you. As a general rule, you will not create multiple accounts unless you have a perfectly legitimate reason to do so. We reserve the right to contact you regarding why, if you did, you created multiple accounts, and reserve the right to terminate any accounts we deem to not be legitimate. Legitimate examples include: a home account and a work account, an account for each person in your household, a regular account and a beta account, and such similar things, provided you do not use them abusively.
You will not create an account for the purpose of “name squatting,” that is, in an attempt to gain commercial or other economic benefit by offering for sale or trade a user name. Why you would want to do this here is completely baffling, but you aren’t allowed to do it. If we catch you doing it, we reserve the right to change your username.
You will not impersonate another person, even for satirical purposes. Impersonation involves adopting a persona of another individual, sometimes for some tangible gain, and sometimes for humorous purproses. We expect you not to impersonate people who are not you, and reserve the right to modify accounts that appear to be doing this.
You will not create a public facing username that is offensive. WhatCharacter.com staff are the final judges of offensive. Please refrain from using vulgarities and derogatory epithets and similar terms in your username. We reserve the right to change your username if we deem it to be offensive.
If you discover an exploit to any established rule, you agree to report it to us immediately. You may file a bug report by sending an email to bugs@whatcharacter.com. You will be rewarded for being the first to report such problems. likewise, if you are found to be exploiting any feature of the website, we may at our discretion, terminate your account.
If your account is terminated, you will not create a new one without express permission from us. Terminated accounts will not have any financial transactions refunded.
When engaging in the site’s communication platforms, you agree not to publish advertisements. There may be a section of the communication platforms designated for such, but we reserve the right to revoke this privilege if negatively affects our site or our members.
If you must argue with other users, you will keep it professional. Ad-hominem attacks never win arguments, and the people who use them are stupid (that last independent clause was a joke). Combat the ideas, not the people saying them. Also understand that your opinions are not you, and that if others argue with you, they are not attacking you. People will disagree, and they may disagree with things you think are perfectly rational. Since you’re so rational, please understand that, instead of trying to stifle another’s free expression of their ideas in counter to your own. We reserve the right to ban users from the communication platforms (temporarily or permanently), and may, if the user is problematic, ban the user from the site.
You agree that you will not post pornographic, violent, hateful, or other harmful material to the site. We reserve the right to disallow the cataloging of such works as well, and may, at our discretion, allow such in a limited capacity. If we do allow such content, we will also provide a flag to indicate as much, hiding the content to all users who have not explicitly enabled the flag, so that the website may be considered safe for general use.
We respect the rights granted under reasonable application of copyright and trademark laws. As such, you agree to not post content that violates copyright or trademark rights.
