Siddhārtha Gautama is believed, according to Buddhist tradition, to have been born c. 563 BC or c. 480 BC in Lumbini, Shakya Republic.
He went on to become enlightened, becoming Gautama Buddha, founding Buddhism.
He is believed to have died c. 483 BC or c. 400 BC in Kushinagar, Malla Republic, aged 80 years old.
