After the Siege is a novella inspired by [person:Z2eLiw4KEeaAugAeyeRIgw]'s grandmother's experiences during the Siege of Leningrad.

It takes place in a not-too-distant future, where the wars have gone high-tech, and viruses, computer and biologic, are used in combat.

The story follows the protagonist, Valentine, as she makes her way in a war-torn wasteland. When she meets a wizard whose technology still works, she's torn between helping him, potentially being a traitor, or turning him in to the authorities, possibly bringing an end to the war.
